Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling Confirmed for ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ Prequel

After the phenomenal success of the “Barbie” movie, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are teaming up once again for their next joint project, the upcoming “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel.

The film’s producer, Josey McNamara, expressed confidence in Robbie and Gosling’s ability to uphold the franchise, stating, “I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready.” He added, “They’re wonderful together. The more projects, even outside of that, we can have them do would be amazing.”

The untitled prequel is being produced by Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment and directed by Jay Roach, known for “Austin Powers” and “Bombshell.” While specific details about the movie’s plot are limited, Roach has confirmed that it is set in 1960s Monte Carlo.

“Ocean’s Eleven” originally premiered in 2001, featuring an ensemble cast led by George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts. The film’s success led to three sequels, including the female-driven spinoff “Ocean’s Eight” with stars like Sandra Bullock, Rihanna, and Anne Hathaway.

The original “Ocean’s Eleven” was a remake of the 1960 Rat Pack-led movie, and it followed Danny Ocean (Clooney) and his team as they executed an intricate heist on a Las Vegas casino operated by Andy Garcia’s Terry Benedict. Roach’s prequel marks the first film in the “Ocean’s” franchise since the release of “Ocean’s Eight” in 2018.

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling previously displayed remarkable on-screen chemistry in “Barbie,” a movie directed by Greta Gerwig and centered around the iconic Mattel doll. The film achieved significant box office success, grossing over $1 billion and becoming the highest-grossing movie of 2023.
